6.243 Dynamics of Nonlinear Systems

Introduction to nonlinear deterministic dynamical systems. Nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Planar autonomous systems. Fundamental theory: Picard iteration, contraction mapping theorem, and Bellman-Gronwall lemma. Stability of equilibria by Lyapunov's first and second methods. Feedback linearization. Application to nonlinear circuits and control systems.

This class has 6.241, 18.100A, 18.100B, and 18.100C as prerequisites.

6.243 will not be offered this semester. It will be instructed by A. Megretski and M. Dahleh.

This class counts for a total of 12 credits. This is a graduate-level class.
