18.781 Theory of Numbers

Class Info

An elementary introduction to number theory with no algebraic prerequisites. Primes, congruences, quadratic reciprocity, diophantine equations, irrational numbers, continued fractions, partitions.

This class has no prerequisites.

18.781 will be offered this semester (Spring 2017). It is instructed by J.-L. Kim.

Lecture occurs 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays in 2-105.

This class counts for a total of 12 credits.
