18.715 Introduction to Representation Theory
Algebras, representations, Schur's lemma. Representations of SL(2). Representations of finite groups, Maschke's theorem, characters, applications. Induced representations, Burnside's theorem, Mackey formula, Frobenius reciprocity. Representations of quivers.
18.715 will not be offered this semester. It will be available in the Fall semester, and will be instructed by G. Lusztig.
Lecture occurs 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in 2-147.
This class counts for a total of 12 credits.
