18.715 Introduction to Representation Theory


Class Info

Algebras, representations, Schur's lemma. Representations of SL(2). Representations of finite groups, Maschke's theorem, characters, applications. Induced representations, Burnside's theorem, Mackey formula, Frobenius reciprocity. Representations of quivers.

This class has 18.702, and 18.703 as prerequisites.

18.715 will be offered this semester (Fall 2018). It is instructed by G. Lusztig.

Lecture occurs 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in 2-147.

This class counts for a total of 12 credits.
