18.424 Seminar in Information Theory


Class Info

Considers various topics in information theory, including data compression, Shannon's Theorems, and error-correcting codes. Students present and discuss the subject matter. Instruction and practice in written and oral communication provided. Enrollment limited.

This class has 18.05, 18.600, 6.041, 18.06, 18.700, and 18.701 as prerequisites.

18.424 will be offered this semester (Fall 2019). It is instructed by P. W. Shor.

Lecture occurs 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays in 2-151.

This class counts for a total of 12 credits. This class counts as a CI-M.
