18.04 Complex Variables with Applications


Class Info

Complex algebra and functions; analyticity; contour integration, Cauchy's theorem; singularities, Taylor and Laurent series; residues, evaluation of integrals; multivalued functions, potential theory in two dimensions; Fourier analysis, Laplace transforms, and partial differential equations.

This class has 18.02, 18.03, and 18.034 as prerequisites.

18.04 will not be offered this semester. It will be available in the Spring semester, and will be instructed by J. Orloff.

Lecture occurs 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in 2-139.

This class counts for a total of 12 credits.
